# Ensure formatter compatibility

Diffblue Cover IntelliJ Plugin uses google-java-format to format your test suite.&#x20;

Cover will recognise (E166) and require you to set up your IntelliJ VM with the following options to ensure formatter can run.&#x20;

Please follow the steps at:

and add the following options, then restart your IntelliJ IDE for them to take effect.

--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.api=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.code=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.file=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.parser=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.tree=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports jdk.compiler/com.sun.tools.javac.util=ALL-UNNAMED
